Probably best to allow downscaling of the image based on what is present in the message as presumably it is the filtering that takes the time (although could be drawing the circles). Less filtering could be applied but not sure of how impactful that will be to final result

Downscaling significantly reduces time taken. Can also do a better job of image filtering but that requires some choices to be made
